  1. Well, I most likely haven’t seen anywhere near as wide a variety of anime as our honorable blogmaster, but I have been exposed to a wide range of anime themes, and here are the five I would pick to top the list:

    ———-

    5) “Houkiboshi” from Bleach ED 3 — yeah, I’m a sucker for upbeat, high-energy themes. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTnq5lPMSKw )

    4) “Wonderful Life” from Planetes ED, a kind of feel-good ending theme for an anime that sometimes left you wanting a feel-good moment at the end of some of the sadder episodes. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHPn9whQ2P4 )

    3) “Shichiten Hakki*Shijō Shugi (七転八起☆至上主義)” from Hayate no Gotoku OP 2, another high-energy, upbeat theme–not to mention one that has a way of getting stuck in my head whenever I hear it. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3mgPJYvoQI )

    2) “A Song of Storm and Fire” from Tsubasa Chronicle was used several times as an insert song, and is, in my opinion, more than worthy of inclusion. By the way — it’s not actual Latin that’s being used; it only sounds like it is. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBekopxQqpY )

    …and finally…

    1) “Sociometry” from Shakugan no Shana II ED 2 — I’ve never even seen Shakugan no Shana, but I discovered the theme when randomly browsing youtube, and absolutely love it. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUF0fe4qfoA )

    ———-

  2. Correction to above post — The correct youtube link for #2 (A Song of Storm and Fire) is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OBEHUF2C_A — the link that I accidentally provided is to “Loop” from Tsubasa Chronicle ED 1 — also a good theme, but not at the level of ‘A Song of Storm and Fire’.

  3. I might as well add some of my favorites. I don’t really know if this is a top five so much as just five I currently really enjoy.

    5. “Colors” from Code Geass. JIBUN WOOOOOOO! Seriously, it’s the most fabulous thing to come out of such a fabulous anime.

    4. “Sakura”, the 4th opening for Eureka Seven. Amazing Grace never sounded so good.

    3. “My Pace” from Genshiken. The nature of the song just fit perfectly with the series.

    2. “Shut Up and Explode” from Xam’d: Lost Memories. I also enjoy the end theme. No song has had me toe tapping more than this series has recently.

    1. “Sorairo Days” from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. This is why I didn’t just do a list of anime songs. Because I had to limit TTGL to only one spot. Other wise the list would be four versions of “ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWA” and then “Sorairo Days”.

I watch more than mecha anime. Seriously, I do…

  4. Well, let’s see…for me it’s pretty much “What are my favorite songs at the moment” since I have so many favorites.

    1. “Broken Youth” by NICO Touches the Walls. It’s the latest Naruto Shippuuden ending. Great, fun song and a nicely animated ED.

    2. “Cycling Recycle” by Kirin. it’s from Keroro Gunsou. ED #8. Catchy and appropriately light-hearted.

    3. “Waga Routashi Aku no Hana” by ALI Project. It’s the Code Geass R2 ending. Heck, ALI Project and Code Geass were practically made for each other. And I know all ALI Project songs sound the same, but I still love ’em.

    4. “Shura” by Does. Gintama ED #5. It’s just so kickass, and so appropriate for the awesome Benizakura arc that ended all too soon.

    5. Wow I just realized that all these songs were endings. Gotta put at least one opening in here. How about “This is Love” by Utada Hikaru. It’s the opening of the absolutely wonderful FREEDOM ova sponsored by Cup Noodle! Everyone should watch this show, it’s great. And only 7 eps long.
