Sometimes, one has to put preconceptions aside and just watch a series he really believes may not appeal to him, because sometimes, just sometimes (namely, this time), he might be wrong.

Normally, I’m not into drama…

…okay, that was a lie, but the truth is, this show looked like something I would either love or hate and nothing in the between. That’s not to say it was cheesy, it was more that it was a tried and true romance anime at the beginning and I had no idea what to expect.

Suddenly, though, I was thrown onto a roller-coaster of emotions and drama that finally culminated in one of the greatest series I’ve had the privilege of seeing, especially one based on such a tired genre. Objectively, I think the anime greatly benefited from its visual novel roots. Even though I’m not always a fan of the games themselves, one has to admit that the Key animes (Kanon, Clannad, and Air) are great stories, even if you didn’t always agree with their endings and they always make an emotional impact on the viewer.

In conclusion, this anime really broadened my horizons as an anime lover, not because I was depressed for a week after watching it, but more because it showed me what anime as a medium could be used for something other than action and still be interesting. I’d say it’s a great anime for anyone who wants to watch romance and even more so for the skeptics.

But who am I to tell you what to think? Go out and watch it! Episodes are available on Xbox Live and iTunes as well as your local Best Buy.
